Growth phase

The growth phase, also called the vegetative phase, is the period of growth of the cannabis plant between germination and flowering. Here, growth is focused on leaves, stems, and roots rather than flowers.

During this phase, the plant experiences rapid growth and development: it establishes a strong root system, grows in height and produces green leaves. This is a critical period, as the size of the plant often correlates with the harvest yield. To get the best results, growers must provide optimal conditions: correct lighting (typically 18-24 hours of light per day), appropriate temperature, stable humidity and appropriate nutrients with a focus on nitrogen.

Indoors this phase can be controlled and extended with light management, while outdoors it follows natural seasonal changes. Metabolically this is where the plant lays the foundation for the upcoming flowering with robust structure and ideal photosynthetic capacity.
